Philips CBright Projectors and Lamps

Philips has come out with a number of CBright projectors, including the CBright SV1, SV2 (which will be featured in this article), XG1 and XG2. As always, Philips has produced a solid product and like most of the projector’s predecessors, the CBright does not fail to live up to the Philips standard of high-quality.

The first thing that strikes you when you first inspect a CBright projector is how well it is put together. The projector shell seems to be made of a higher quality plastic material and this feature, while simple, makes you feel like you’re not getting ripped off. It is actually amazing how flimsy the plastic shell is on projectors manufactured by some other companies that will remain anonymous.

The CBright projectors are really slick looking as well. They are silver with a curved shape that makes them look professional. CBrights also have a lot of areas for ventilation built into the design of the projector, ensuring that your projector lamp does not overheat and/ or break down before it is supposed to.

Philips’ CBright SV2 projector utilizes a 200W projector lamp (Lamp ID# LCA3111) that you also can be sure is high quality, seeing as Philips pretty much invented the modern day projector lamp and all its variations. The projector lamp itself outputs 1800 ANSI lumens, making it one of the brighter projectors on the market.

The CBright SV2 has a contrast ratio of 350:1. The projector was released in 2001 and this may be the reason that the unit struggles to compete with some of the modern contrast ratios found in extremely new projectors.

We tested the Philips CBright SV2 while watching an episode of CSI: New York in high-definition. The projector was, in a word – fantastic. The color levels popped with a brilliance that out performed most of the projectors we’ve ever reviewed in the history of this website (look through the archives and you will see exactly what that means).

Overall, we cannot heap enough praise or accolades on top of the Philips CBright SV2, it is an amazing machine.

Until next time – take is easy and remember you can purchase a projector lamp for this projector, right here @ myprojectorlamps.com!
