Philips 4241; Projector Lamp 150W
The Philips 4241 is a fine machine that was manufactured in conjunction with one of Philips’ most popular models, the famed Philips Hopper SV20. The great thing about this machine (the 4241) is that is comes with a projector lamp that lasts 4000 hours out of the box. Often times companies put shotty projector lamps into their projectors, lamps that only function for 1000 hours or so – and that is the primary advantage of buying a Philips projector. Philips invented the modern day projector lamp, which is known by the proprietary name of UHP lamp, a term that Philips coined in the late 1990’s. Therefore, Philips projectors usually include the cutting edge in projector lamp technology. For example, the Philips 4241 was developed for release in the year 2000, but it has a projector lamp inside that lasts for 4000 hours. Projector lamps that last this long have only recently emerged on the market in 2004 and 2005, so there is definitely an advantage to Philips projectors. The lamps inside their units these days can last up to 6000 hours.
On a side note, the projector lamp for the Philips 4241 ( Lamp ID# LCA3109 ) can be found right here at myprojectorlamps.com for only $274.99!
The Philips 4241 is a solid projector for other reasons as well. The projector boasts a maximum resolution of 1280x1024, a contrast ratio of 200:1 (which is a little on the weak side, but remember the projector was manufactured in 2000). The projector lamp generates an ANSI Lumens rate of 1000 and there are video and personal computer inputs available for presentation use.
We tested the Philips 4241 while watching Napoleon Dynamite on a 100 inch screen. The resolution was not a problem, even on a screen of such magnitude. Plus, we were watching the movie as the sun was setting and the picture was bright enough to suffice. As the sun set completely, we had a blast watching the movie outside on our porch, but we were in Minnesota so the mozzies were a little bothersome. They seem as attracted to the projector lamp’s light, as I am to Aishwarya Rai.
Overall, we liked the projector, the projector lamp inside was bright enough to watch the movie from start to finish and Mr. Napoleon provided some comedic relief as always. Until next time – take it easy.
