The Sony HS10: A Gem in the Jungle

The projector world is constantly expanding and becoming larger and larger, morphing from a once small and exclusive industry to a mainstream technological juggernaut of an industry. One could say that “it is a jungle out there”, but that phrase has been used so much it’s silly. I liken the projector industry to that fictional world of Judgment Day in Arnold Schwartzenegger’s Terminator 2. There are a lot of boxes of metal out there and choosing one that will work well for you can sometimes be difficult.

Myprojectorlamps.com’s reviews section attempts to make things easier for you by recommending projectors that we have either

a) tested and enjoyed immensely or
b) heard good things about from our customers.

The Sony HS10 is one of those projectors’s. You can buy the projector lamp for this model by clicking here.

The Sony HS10 “Cineza” as it is sometimes known, came out in 2003 and shocked the projector industry because it was (“was” being the key word here) one of the first projector’s to offer native 16:9 wide screen capabilities for under $2999 USD. The projector was also one of the first to target the home theater market and do it well. Other companies had come out with home theater projector’s prior to 2003, but they were either much too expensive or didn’t have the resolution or capabilities that are needed to have a truly enjoyable home theater experience.

The Sony HS10 is also a peculiarly bright machine, the projector lamp inside the unit pumps out an amazing 1200 ANSI Lumens when the projector is operating in the exact factory default settings. Even when operating the HS10 in economy mode or cinema black mode, the projector lamp pumps out an still impressive 700 ANSI Lumens, which makes it bright enough to enjoy your film at night, but not quite bright enough to enjoy Kelly Ripa as the morning sun streams into your bedroom.

Overall, the Sony HS10 gives an incredible performance, especially in the category of home theaterand would be a welcome addition to any college dorm room, small theater or bachelorette pad. The fact that this projector has an amazing resolution of 1360x760 makes it a very good buy as well.

As of the writing of this article I’ll bet you can find a used HS10 for under a thousand bucks! So what are you waiting for? Go get ‘em!
